DJ Envy Quits NY’s Hot 97 After 8 Years!!
Allhiphop reports:
Popular Hip-Hop personality DJ Envy resigned from his position at Hot 97 today (November 30) AllHipHop.com has confirmed.
DJ Envy worked at the popular New York Hip-Hop station for over 8-years.
He most recently served as the host of Hot 97’s “New At 2,” a successful afternoon show that played new music from 2:00-2:30PM each day.
While at Hot 97, DJ Envy also served as co-host of Miss Jones' morning show, before Jones left to head up a new show on WUSL Power 99FM in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in July of 2008.
“Hot 97 was one of the best experiences in my life,” DJ Envy told AllHipHop.com. “I will definitely miss that place. It was like my second home….Nah I really had a air mattress there.”
As part of Miss Jones' morning show crew, DJ Envy was involved in a number of controversial incidents.
In 2005, Miss Jones, DJ Envy and personality Tasha Hightower were suspended for two weeks for their part in promoting an off-color song titled “The Tsunami Song" that outraged Asian-Americans.
Additionally DJ Envy feuded with rival DJ Star, who was eventually fired from Power 105.1 in 2006 and arrested for making sexually threatening remarks about DJ Envy’s wife and his 4-year-old daughter.
DJ Envy is the CEO of his own company, Blok Entertainment company.
He has produced tracks for a number of rappers, including Fabolous, DMX, Foxy Brown, Juvenile and others.

Eminem “Relapse: Refill” Tracklist
Thursday, November 19, 2009
Eminem to Release 'Relapse: Refill' on December 22
Eminem reportedly will drop the re-release of his chart topper 'Relapse' in December and refill it with seven new tracks.
Filling the gap between "Relapse" and "Relapse 2", Eminem will treat his fans with "Relapse: Refill". The re-release of the first "Relapse" installment is going to be put out for purchase across U.S. on December 22.
According to Rap-Up, the "Refill" will arrive as a double-disc album and feature seven new songs in addition to the original tracks of "Relapse". Titles of the reported fresh materials remain under wraps though.
"Relapse" made its way out in U.S. on May 19. In its first week on sale, it reigned Billboard Hot 200 and sold more than 608,000 copies, becoming the biggest sales week of the year for any album so far. Also, the achievement has made the rapper crowned the biggest selling Hip-Hop act in the SoundScan era (1991-present) considering that he has sold around 34 million units with his six albums.
"Relapse 2", meanwhile, is expected to come out sometime next year. Rappers 50 Cent and K'Naan as well as producer Just Blaze are involved in the making of the effort.
Aside from entering studio for his own albums, Eminem has also contributed to "DJ Hero Renegade" double-disc album which has been in stores since October.
Update: "Relapse: Refill" is actually aimed to replace "Relapse 2" which was previously announced to come out next year.

Maino, Littles Organize Fundraiser For Slain Rapper Mike Beck RIP
A number of New York rappers are gathering to pay tribute to slain rapper Mike Beck, who was shot and killed in Brooklyn in October during a robbery.
Music executive Littles and rapper Maino have organized the “Self Destruction” unity concert on November 23, to raise money for Beck’s 10-year-old son’s college fund.
Beck was a member of the rap group Kill All Rats (K.A.R.), a group affiliated with Fat Joe, appearing on his "300 Brolic" remix.
“The streets need guidance, the recession has dudes in hoods around America hungry. I’m fresh off a platinum plaque, All The Above just went platinum,” Maino told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “So as far as I’m concerned I made it out the ghetto, but Mike Beck’s passing has given me the fuel to take a few hours out of my day and give back to the lane that got me where I am. The streets. This event will help send Mike Beck’s son to college. We have to start looking out for one another."
Rapper Hell Rell, Saigon, Uncle Murda, Grafh, Cadillac Tah, Maino and a number of others were tapped to perform at the event because of their street following.
Hot 97’s DJ Kay Slay and K. Foxx have been tapped to host the concert with Fuse TV radio personality Dee Vazquez at the Imperial Night Club in New York.
“I will do my best to see that the message gets out there to our youth about what has happened to Mike Beck and others alike around the world,” Littles added. “We have to come together in peace November 23rd and the message will start in the Hip-Hop community. I worked hard along with the rappers performing to get this concert together and also spread the message “Self Destruction” something that affects us all.”
Imperial is located at 17 West 18 Street. The show starts at 9:00 PM.
Former Bodyguard For Celebrities Such As Jay-Z And Diddy Killed By Police In Club Melee * Posted by ALBANY4LIFE on November 16, 2009 at 12:00pm
NY Post: Cops breaking up a brawl at a Brooklyn club early yesterday wounded one man -- and then shot and killed a bouncer who once served as a bodyguard for the likes of Jay-Z, Mariah Carey and P. Diddy.
A spat over a spilled drink escalated at the Norwood Palace in Cypress Hills at around 3 a.m., with patrons striking each other with anything at hand and then firing off several rounds.
"Chairs and bar stools were flying all over the place," said house DJ Timothy Stokes. "Then some shots went off."
Two nearby plainclothes cops confronted patron Donovan Wilson, 19, outside the club as he fired at a bouncer wearing a bulletproof vest, said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.
When Wilson turned toward them, they yelled, "Police! Don't move!" and shot him in the elbow and hip when he didn't follow their orders, Kelly said.
Then, hearing a shot from inside the club, cops rushed in to find a second bouncer, Kevin White, 43, holding a gun. "[They] screamed at him several times to drop the weapon, and he did not," Stokes said.
White, whose rap sheet included five arrests for weapon possession, was fatally shot in the neck.
A police source said surveillance video showed he was shooting at the cops.
But relatives, who said he'd worked with rap and pop royalty, insisted he had just wrested the gun away from a patron.
His brother, Louis, a nurse, said, "My brother would never carry a gun"
Drake, Kid Cudi And Wale Are ''The Gangsta Killers'' In Upcoming GQ Magazine 'Man Of The Year' Edition
''Have you been listening to hip-hop this year? If not, we’ve got good news: The gangster persona is finally dead, and these are the kids who killed it. One song at a time, they built a new era in which duct-taped kilos, exotic firearms, and freaky girls are out and real life is the focus.
That can still mean trumped-up egos and battle raps, but it also means family, drama, vicious hangovers, and regular chicks who will make good love to you, then stomp out your heart. (Weed? Weed is always in.) Wale is as famous for his live shows as for the slick-witted lyricism of his debut, Attention Deficit.
Kid Cudi is the cutup who scored with the stoner anthem “Day N Nite” and his album Man on the Moon. And then there’s Drake, who found himself turning down multimillion-dollar offers after his single “Best I Ever Had” exploded. (It helps that the girls like Drake. A lot.) Drake’s debut, Thank Me Later is easily the most anticipated album of 2010 So what do these underdogs thing about being cast as gangster slayers?
“The dope boy is going to be a fixture of black culture as long as “thug” is a legitimate option alongside a job” Drake says. But I’m not going to rap about how much crack I’ve sold.” Cudi also laughs at the idea of talking tough. “Anybody from cleveland will tell you I wasn’t in the streets” he says. “Ask them! They’ll say, ‘Scott was the goofy class clown.”

Breaking News: Gucci Mane Sentenced To A Year in Prison
MTV reports:
Gucci Mane was sentenced to 12 months in prison on Thursday (November 12) for probation violation and taken away to prison in handcuffs, according to a rep from his label.
The sentence is a blow to Gucci's career. The ATL rapper has a album coming out — The State Vs. Radrick Davis — on December 8 and is arguably at the height of his career; in terms of his sentence, he may be out of prison in six months. Last September, Gucci went to jail and served until March; he was sentenced to a year in prison for failing to fulfill his court-ordered 600 hours of community service, which had been mandated in 2005.
"It was a challenge for me," he told MTV News in March about going to jail in 2008. "I'm just happy my team kept my music going strong for me. And I'm happy I recorded so many records so people could hear me."
Upon his release Gucci went straight to the studio and recorded five songs. " Then I had a party later that night to get ready for, so that took up most of my day right there," he added, describing his first day as a free man.
This year, Gucci definitely was breaking through the mainstream from the streets to the mainstream, guest appearing on tracks for the Black Eyed Peas, Mario, Omarion, Mariah Carey and even a 50 Cent song. Gucci's current single is called "Spotlight" and features Usher. This follows on the heels of "Wasted," featuring Plies.
G-Unit's Sha Money XL Inks Multi-Million Dollar Music & Film Distribution Deal For His Dream Big Ventures Imprint.
AllHipHop Reports
Renowned producer Sha Money XL has inked a multi-million dollar music and film distribution deal for his Dream Big Ventures imprint, which will allow him and his team to “nurture talent that has the passion to ‘dream big,’” he announced today (November 11).
“Sha Money’s reputation and track record of success speaks for itself,” said Michael Bull, General Manager of The Orchard, Dream Big’s new distribution home. “All of us at The Orchard are thrilled to be in a position to work with Sha, building and developing his new label. We see Dream Big as America’s next great urban independent.”
The former G-Unit Records president comes to The Orchard – the world’s leading digital distributor of music – with a roster of three artists, each at a different stage of their careers.
Dream Big Ventures also comes to The Orchard with a completed first project: former Shady/Aftermath recording artist Stat Quo’s long-delayed debut album Statlanta. Also signed to the new imprint are DJ Whoo Kid and former Young Money associate Kidd Kidd.
“The first three projects coming out of Dream Big are very realistic reflections of the three stages an artist can find themselves in: established and successful, in-between labels or ready to take your career to the next level,” Sha Money told AllHipHop.com in a statement.
Originally scheduled for a 2003 release, Statlanta now boasts production credits by Che Vicious, Hi-Tek, Key Kat Productions and Sha Money XL himself, who says he wanted to work with Stat from the first time he heard him.
“The anticipation for his debut album is still high,” he added. “I am pleased to be releasing it through my new venture.”
Along with the announcement of its new partnership, Dream Big released Stat Quo’s latest single “Freaky Girl” and Kidd Kidd’s “New Kidd On The Block” mixtape, hosted by DJ Whoo Kid and DJ Scream.
In addition to operating his new venture as a traditional label, Sha Money XL has launched a new website, DreamBigVentures.Net, which he hopes can serve as an interactive advertising and promotion tools for up-and-coming talent and music-related service providers, ie web and graphic designers, producers, and videographers. Sha’s hope is that the site will also encourage established industry executives to seek out those kinds of talent the world over.
“Dream Big is about me fulfilling my dreams and my visions,” Sha Moneys explained. “Imagine if Dr. Dre had never moved on from NWA or Death Row? You have to have wisdom to accept that a change has to take place, but not be careless with your future.”
In addition to his continued expansion of the One Stop Shop, which, in three years, has become the premier annual networking event for producers, Sha Money XL is currently co-managing Hi-Tek and Talib Kewli as Reflection Eternal. Revolutions Per Minute, the duo’s highly anticipated follow-up to 2000’s Train of Thought, is due out in 2010.
Sha Money also recently served as the Associate Producer on 50 Cent’s fourth studio album, Before I Self-Destruct, which is set to hit stores Tuesday (November 16).
Mike Tyson Arrested For Assaulting Photographer At LAX Airport
Mike Tyson and a photographer made citizen's arrests of one another after getting into a scuffle Wednesday at Los Angeles International Airport, police say.
At 4:30 p.m., the former boxing champ, 43, was passing through LAX from Europe en route to Las Vegas when a celebrity photographer began taking his picture at the United Airlines terminal, Sgt. Jim Holcomb tells PEOPLE.
"The two men got into a scuffle, and it's alleged that Tyson hit the photographer once in the face with one hand, causing him to fall to the ground," Holcomb says. "The photographer sustained a laceration to the forehead, and was taken to a local hospital."
Officers arrived on the scene and detained Tyson, who was booked at a nearby LAPD station and held on $20,000 bail, according to police records. Documents also show that Tyson was released at 8:24 p.m.
Tyson was reportedly traveling with his wife and 10-month-old baby. The incident was first reported by Radaronline.com.
"Mr. Tyson did absolutely nothing wrong, he was the victim in this case," his attorney, Richard Schonfeld tells PEOPLE. "We look forward to vindicating him and pursuing his rights."
Earlier this year, the boxer's 4-year-old daughter, Exodus, died in Phoenix after accidentally getting her neck wrapped in a cord from an exercise machine. In November 2007, Tyson was sentenced by an Arizona judge to 24 hours in jail and three years probation for drug possession and driving under the influence.
It remains to be seen whether the airport incident will be deemed a violation of his probation terms.

Say it Aint So This Nigga Ashamed of who he is Lmao
A few years ago, I finally got around to reading "Black No More," a novel by the late journalist, social satirist and novelist George Schuyler.
A former reporter for the Pittsburgh Courier, Mr. Schuyler was both a black conservative and a "race man," an archaic term that refers to someone who takes upon himself the duty of protecting and defending the black race.
First published in 1931, "Black No More" is a hilarious and brutal tale about Max Disher, a Harlem insurance agent and neighborhood rogue who undergoes a pigment-lightening process said to have been invented by Dr. Junius Crookmore, a black mad scientist. Dr. Crookmore's studies in Germany led to the invention of a machine that turns people of African descent into Swedes and Norwegians.
Once Max takes on his new identity as a white man, he changes his name to Matt Fisher and marries the unsuspecting daughter of a notorious white supremacist. As you can imagine, all sorts of hilarity and racial subversion ensue.
Max isn't alone in undergoing the novel's "black no more" process. The book has most of Harlem, from the intellectual elite to juvenile delinquent, undergo the relatively cheap skin-bleaching and hair-straightening transformation inside Dr. Crookmore's machine. So many blacks flood the market as newly minted Caucasians, enraged Southerners push legislation to make it illegal to switch races, rather than suffer the further devaluation of white skin.
I thought of George Schuyler's book last week when recent photos of famed baseball slugger Sammy Sosa, born dark-skinned in the Dominican Republic, began making the rounds. Like Max Disher, Sosa appears to have undergone significant lightening since his debut with the Texas Rangers and famed years with the Chicago Cubs.
While falling short of the albino whiteness Michael Jackson perfected over a quarter of a century, Mr. Sosa shows what can happen when black folks with money engage in too much impulse buying on the racial cosmetics market.

While falling short of the albino whiteness Michael Jackson perfected over a quarter of a century, Mr. Sosa shows what can happen when black folks with money engage in too much impulse buying on the racial cosmetics market.
If Mr. Sosa is trying to steal a base on the other side of the color line, he has plenty of company. I was surprised to read a list on the Internet about all of the black performers -- especially R&B artists -- who are also believed to use skin lighteners.
Using skin lighteners is generally frowned upon in the African-American community, but somebody in that demographic is buying them. Skin-whitening soaps containing banned ingredients in the U.S. and Europe have accounted for billions in sales in Africa alone in the last half century.
Advertisers in Asia know that they can juice sales by appealing to the vanity of female customers obsessed with achieving "milky white skin" they consider more desirable and aristocratic. Skin whiteners are believed to be an even larger business in Asia than in Africa.
The politics of skin lightening couldn't be more absurd. There is probably more acceptance of someone undergoing sex reassignment than of someone trying to "upgrade" their color. A transgendered person is trying to find a body in which to feel more authentic. Someone lightening his skin has bought into an inherently corrupt measurement of worth in society.
Folks who try to buy social acceptance in a bottle of whitening lotion are looking for the kind of shortcut to success Mr. Sosa sought when he turned to steroids. It's cheap and degrading to the soul.
Perhaps I'm being unfair to folks who feel "whitening up" is in line with their sense of beauty and personal aesthetics. Who says that you only get one bite at the apple of racial identity? For all his brilliance, George Schuyler could be wrong. In the end, looking askance at what many would consider pitiful attempts at racial migration is just another way of being prejudiced.
